News from Africa

March 15, 2011

well, there is a lot going on in the world now, and not all of it gets to the news. However, I find this quite interesting, or worth noticing.

Proces with Ch. Tylor is closed now. I find it unacceptable how he is defending himself. No regrets??? No appology…eventhough is there a possible way to appologize for all of that? (war in Sierra Leone).

what is freedom of speech? what are the limits of it? and how do we protect it?

This case is not even reported by the wester media (well, there is a lot of going on and the time for news is limited) but i think a lecturer at university should be able to make comments on the current political situation. Isn´t it actually the whole point of academia? free flow of thoughts? exchange of ideas, opinions and comments?

well, apparently my point of view is different from the one of the Maalwian government:

And finally, we have heared about the unrests in Cote d´Ivoire, but then the news faded away. Quite unfortunatelly it looks like the country is slipping to some really bad times. So waht is going on in the West African country?
